Zynk vs Wormhole.app

Wormhole.app and Zynk are both end-to-end encrypted. The difference is the model: Wormhole.app uploads to a 24-hour browser link capped at 10 GB, Zynk sends device-to-device with no limits, and the next send to the same person is one click, no new link.

No size cap, remembered devices, and a native app behind the link

  • You send files to the same devices regularly and don't want to generate a new link every time.
  • You want direct device transfer with no 10 GB cap and no browser tab to keep open during the send.
  • You want a menu-bar tray with online contacts, conversations, in-app preview, and PDF signing in one app.
  • You need drop links, share links, and a CLI for scripts and servers.

What we noted

  • Wormhole.app has a strong browser-side security design: AES-GCM encryption before files leave the browser, decryption keys kept in the URL fragment so the server never sees them, and files up to 5 GB stored encrypted on Wormhole servers for 24 hours so the recipient can download later.
  • If you just need to hand someone a link they open once in a browser, Wormhole.app's zero-install flow is simpler than asking them to install anything. Zynk's device memory only helps when the same people keep coming back.
