Zynk vs Tailscale Taildrop

Taildrop is a public-alpha feature inside Tailscale, with strong WireGuard encryption. But it only sends between your own devices, never to other people, and macOS and iOS can't resume. Zynk is end-to-end encrypted too, and works on its own: it reaches your contacts and anyone you send a link to, with no tailnet on either end.

Send to anyone, no VPN to install first

You send files to other people, not just your own devices. Taildrop is same-user only.
You want a menu-bar tray with online contacts and devices, plus Finder and Explorer "Send with Zynk".
You want a conversation, in-app preview, voice notes, and PDF signing in the same app.

What we noted

Taildrop is a Tailscale feature, gated by a working tailnet.
If you already run Tailscale and only ever move files between your own devices, Taildrop is right there with no extra app. Zynk is the choice when you send to other people, or want a tool that isn't gated behind a VPN.
