New Zynk accounts use an email address instead of a phone number.
If you created your account with a phone number, keep using it. Your number still signs you in, and your devices and contacts stay exactly where they are.
Why
We originally used phone numbers to make it easy for people to find each other. But many people use Zynk primarily to move files between their own devices, and asking for a phone number created unnecessary friction before they could send anything.
SMS codes can also be unreliable, particularly in countries where delivery is slow or inconsistent. Email is a more familiar way to create an account: we send you a code, you enter it, and you're signed in.
If you already have an account
Nothing changes unless you want it to.
New Zynk users will have an email address instead of a phone number. You can still send to existing accounts by phone number. For newer accounts, send to their email address, or to their username if they have one.
You can also add an email address to your existing account. Open Settings → Account → Addresses, add your email, and enter the code we send you. Afterward, you can sign in with either your email address or your phone number.
Usernames
You don't have to share your email address with other people.
Claim a username in the app, such as @dana, and share that instead. Anyone who adds you by username can send you files and messages, while your email address and phone number remain private.
You'll keep signing in with the email or phone number on your account.
To claim, change, or remove your username, open Settings → Account → Addresses.
